About the Orthopaedic Department

John Hunter Children's Hospital delivers a primary and specialist care service to children and young people within the Hunter New England Area Health Service. The Paediatric Orthopaedic Department at John Hunter Children's Hospital provides helpful information to parents and staff relevant to orthopaedic services and procedures offered for children within the Hunter New England area

This encompasses the area from the Queensland border to the Central Coast.

John Hunter Hospital Campus provides 24 hour, acute, tertiary level service for injuries and conditions affecting bones, muscles & joints.

We have a Multidisciplinary Team, consisting of Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons', Paediatric Orthopaedic Registrars, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and a Clinical Nurse Consultant.

Live in the Hunter New England Area
Hip Screening/treatment clinic
Cerebral Palsy Clinic
Talipes Equinovarus (Club Foot) Clinic
Spina Bifda
General Orthopaedic Clinic
Require Botulinum Toxin A
Have a musculoskeletal problem that is the related to the following disorders:
- Congenital
- Genetics
- Infectious diseases
- Metabolic
- Neurological
- Oncology
- Spinal
- Trauma

No appointment can be made without a referral. Appointment will be allocated after assessment by an Orthopaedic Specialist.

The Royal Newcastle Centre (with another orthopaedic specialist)

Paediatric Orthopaedic Registrar conducts fracture clinics on Tuesday afternoons.
