Guidelines for Media

The primary responsibility for staff at John Hunter Children's Hospital is the care and safety of patients.

John Hunter Children's Hospital has an excellent relationship with local media and the Public Relations Department makes every effort to facilitate the needs of news agencies.

For the news gathering process to run smoothly, we ask that all media outlets adhere to the following guidelines when visiting John Hunter Children's Hospital:

• Journalists, photographers and camera crews must contact Public Relations on 49213844 prior to entering John Hunter Children's Hospital.  
• For stories requiring short notice please contact Media Relations and Communication Officer Lucas Coleman on 0407895101.                    
• Patient condition reports require NSW Health employees to follow strict policy with regards to releasing any information about patients under 18 years of age. Prior to releasing any information we must have parental consent. Should parental consent not be given we are unable to release any information.
