Manning Hospital receives the warm embrace of a Panda
With the spotlight firmly on Adelaide and the
arrival of two Pandas from China, another Panda snuck quietly
into the Manning Valley.
The Panda Warmer as it’s known, is a machine
used in the special care nursery for the warming of newborn babies.
It was recently purchased by Manning Hospital following a generous
$30,000 donation from Woolworths during their Fresh Food Kids
Hospital Appeal.
The arrival of the infant warmer provides a
significant improvement in the care of babies in the Manning region.
Having this high-tech, state-of-the-art piece of equipment will
not only aid health staff but will also improve patient care and
safety.
Mobile and in-place at the delivery, the Panda
Warmer provides the warmth a newborn baby requires following nine
months inside the womb.
In addition to the recessed heater, the machine
contains an in-built resuscitation unit that can be used immediately
following delivery should the need arise.
Further features of the Panda Warmer include
integrated scales, silent alarms and a full colour panel that
displays a newborn baby’s parameters and trending.
“The purchase of the Panda has been made possible
by the quite extraordinary fundraising efforts of Woolworths staff
and the generous support of the community. Manning Hospital is
delighted to have this support in improving the services and equipment
available for our youngest patients". Mr Tim Mooney, General
Manager at Manning Rural Referral Hospital said.
“We thank all our customers who have helped
us raise the money to buy this much needed warmer. Woolworths
is proud to continue to support the Manning Rural Referral Hospital.
A very special thank you to all the Woolworths staff who have
all worked hard and donated their time and own money to help achieve
this great result.” Pia Caculovic, Woolworths Area Manager said.
