John Hunter Hospital

The principle referral centre, teaching hospital and a community hospital for Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and beyond. It is the only trauma centre in NSW outside Sydney, it has the busiest emergency department in the state. It includes the John Hunter Children's Hospital and provides care in many specialty areas, including: anaesthesia and intensive care, cardiology and cardiac surgery, emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, kidney transplants, neonatal intensive care, nephrology, obstetrics and gynaecology, respiratory medicine and trauma.
