Paediatric Orthopaedics and Neuromuscular Disorders Treated at John Hunter Children’s Hospital

There are many orthopaedic problems that may develop in children that are related to neuromuscular disorders. Neuromuscular disorders can originate from:

  • Genetic diseases
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Brain Injury / spinal cord injury
  • Unknown causes
  • Orthopaedic problems that develop from neuromuscular disorders are mostly related to muscle movement and bone growth.

    The following orthopaedic conditions are some that can be associated with neuromuscular disorders in children:

    Cerebral Palsy

    Club feet

    Foot disorders

    Genetic disorders

    Scoliosis

    Spina bifida
